Наверное, нет человека, который бы не слышал о Википедии. Сейчас она предоставляет информацию на большинстве языков мира. Среди них есть и , раздел, написанный только простыми английскими словами. Это как нельзя кстати для детей и иностранцев изучающих английский язык.
Вот две статьи для сравнения: одна из простой википедии, а вторая — из стандартной. Для примера, возьмем слово Internet.
Простая википедия:
The Internet is a worldwide network of interconnected computer networks that transmit data by packet switching using the standard Internet Protocol (IP). Разница заметна невооруженным глазом :) Кроме того, в Simple Wikipedia есть разделы (словарь), (книги и мануалы) и (цитаты), которые тоже написаны простым языком. Единственный минус — маленькое количество статей. На данный момент из было около 55 тысяч. Вроде бы много, но при сравнении с 2700000 статьями английской Википедии и 360000 статьями в русской.
